Guemes Channel Trail Phase II - Ship Harbor

Map is an approximation of potential route not an accurate reflection of exactly where the trail will be

GCT Map Phase II

Status: Planning

Length: 2,750 feet

Cost estimate: $400,000

Issues:

  • Work with WSF
  • Wetland protection
  • Cross terminal road
  • Private Property
  • Cul-de-sac

This is a section of trail where the public owns much of the land but concerns for the environment and sensitive areas around the wetlands must be addressed.  We will need to work closely with Washington State Ferries to find a pathway through their terminal and roadway system that is safe and efficient.  The terminal can also provide nice amenities such as rest and refreshment for trail users.  As we cross from the ferry to Edwards Way different styles and suitable trail designs will be considered.  A paved path may not be appropriate in all areas.  Elevated trails or other designs that have a light impact on the land will be evaluated.  Safe access for walkers and bicycles around / through the cul-de-sac at the end of Edwards Way will be addressed.
