2023 Chip Seal Project

Overview

The City of Anacortes Public Works Department is moving forward with the 2023 Chip Seal Project for the following streets:

Q Avenue including 22^nd Street to 35^th Street bounded by R Avenue & Commercial Avenue (excluding 22^nd Street and 32^nd Street)
O Avenue including 34^th Street to 36^th Street bounded by M Avenue & Commercial Avenue
N Avenue from 36^th Street to Longview Avenue
37^th Street from N Avenue to M Avenue
Longview Avenue from N Avenue to Commercial Avenue
Fidalgo Bay Road and South Fidalgo Bay Road

Schedule

This project is tentatively scheduled to begin July 24^th. Some of the work is weather dependent and the schedule may change. There will be days of no parking on the streets; there may be temporary road closures and detours; and there will be traffic delays to allow for the work.

The work on this project includes:

Pavement repairs
Asphalt pre-leveling
Chip Seal Surfacing
Painting, stop bars, fog lines, and center lines including raised pavement markers

The work will typically take place from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday, although construction may be allowed during weekends if necessary. During construction there will be traffic control allowing for resident access, but expect possible delays to allow the contractor to perform the work safely.

Updates:

This project is complete.

The first phase has been completed, and this second phase of the project will involve a fog seal placement, placement of chip seal surfacing, another fog seal placement and placement of stop bars. The City has contracted Doolittle Construction for this portion of the work. 

The schedule for construction is expected to take place 8/10-8/22. A visual of the schedule can be seen at the bottom of this web page. The exact schedule of construction activities will be weather dependent and delays in the schedule may occur due to inclement weather.

During construction there will be periods of no parking on streets along the entire stretch of the project roadways. Traffic control will be in place to allow for access into the neighborhood and safety of the workers.
