Swashbuckling, back-stabbing and high seas action were all offered in the silent era film, "The Sea Hawk." A wealthy baronet is framed for murder by his half-brother and ends up a slave on a Spanish ship. It may not have the same fantastical scale of a modern day Marvel movie, however this film still made a huge impact on Anacortes, being the inspiration behind the Anacortes Seahawk's name. The "Sea Hawk" in the title is referring to a name given to the main character by a group of Barbary Pirates he leads. Another fun tidbit, Anacortes was actually first to the Seahawks name, with the more popular Seattle Seahawks claiming the title later.
