Charles Frederick Stafford Jr. becomes Chief Justice of Washington State (1975)

An Anacortes High School class of 1936 salutatorian, active in football, drama, Key and Glee Club, Charles Stafford lived an active and hardworking life from the very beginning. He later attended Whitman University, served in WWII, and then earned a bachelor of law from Yale. After spending time serving in the lower courts, Stafford would rise to the rank of Chief Justice in the Washington State Supreme Court in 1975 and would serve as this rank until 1977.
