As part of the City’s waterline replacement program, the City has contracted with Raw Land Construction, Inc. to replace approximately 1000 LF of watermain on Fidalgo Avenue from Commercial Avenue to Hillcrest Drive.
The waterline replacement project is scheduled to begin in late August. The work will consist of replacing existing watermain, water services to homes and reconnecting to existing fire hydrants. The project is expected to be completed in early October.
Additional notifications will be posted on reader boards and on social media, particularly the City of Anacortes website at www.anacorteswa.gov and the Public Works Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AnacortesPublicWorks/
What the project means for residents
During construction there may be interruptions to your water service. You will receive a minimum advanced notice of 24 hours prior to any scheduled or required shutdowns. In the event of an emergency during construction, it is possible you could have an interruption to your water service without notice. In this situation, we will be working diligently to restore your water service as fast as possible.
Additionally, as the contractor moves from block to block with the work, there will be limited street parking on Fidalgo Avenue. We understand the inconvenience this may cause. Please understand this allows the contractor to perform the work efficiently and more importantly, it provides for a safer work environment not having to navigate pedestrians and parked cars with their equipment.
Construction will typically be from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, although construction may be allowed during the late evening hours and weekends if necessary. During construction there will be traffic detours and road closures to allow for the work.
Thank you in advance for your patience during construction as we make these needed improvements to our water system. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jeff Beltramini at (360) 293-1936 or jeffb@cityofanacortes.org.
