The intersection at 32 Street and D Avenue is scheduled to open by 5 p.m. Friday. It is closed until then to protect new, soft concrete curbs and pavement.
The intersection will close again when the final asphalt is placed, which is scheduled for Monday, and when pavement markings are installed. The city does not yet have the schedule for pavement markings.
The detour will be kept in-place until all of the work is complete, because this is a long detour and difficult to dismantle and re-install on three separate occasions. Additionally, some drivers may not want to take their vehicles through the rough pavement zone, opting for the detour.
During periods the intersection is temporarily open on Friday and between work dates, the local detour signs will be revised to direct traffic through the intersection with indications of rough pavement, etc.
